At 0700 hours, the Sailing Masters will move the boat to Treasury Point and its world famous caves for early morning snorkeling. The numerous caves are loaded will fish life and make you ponder what this place would have looked like 400 to 500 years ago. The Bite and Norman Island is famous for its "Treasure Island" caves. Norman Island is full of legends of pirates and buried treasure. The Bite and its' caves were the inspiration for Robert Louis Steven's book Treasure Island. At 1000 hours, we will sail up the Sir Francis Drake Channel tacking and gybing our big 52-foot monohull. Everyone will get into the act and master the basics of safely turning our craft. We will heave too for lunch and conduct a "crossing the line" ceremony for all new sailors to the BVIs. In the late afternoon, we will do several man-over-board drills to insure everyone knows what to do if someone falls over board. In the late afternoon, after rounding Beef Island at Trellis Bay we will pick up a mooring ball for the evening. |
