The ASA Challenge Experienced sailors may "Challenge" the American Sailing Association Standards at Tejas Sailing Academy. Certification is awarded only after a sailor successfully completes the Sailing Knowledge and Sailing Skills exams for the desired standard. ASA Basic Keelboat Sailing (101)
Includes ASA Official International Log Book, and Written Exam.
The ASA 101 challenge includes a 2 ½ hour tune up sail water with an instructor. Proficiency in Coming-About, Gybing, Man-overboard, Picking-up mooring, docking, heaving-too, reefing, and anchoring must be demonstrated prior to written exam.

ASA Basic Coastal Cruising (103)
Includes 2 ½ hour on Water Tune-up followed by a Written Exam.
The on Water Tune-up will need to successfully demonstrate proper use of a wheel boat by Coming-About, Gybing, Man-overboard, pick-up mooring, docking, heaving-too, reefing and anchoring.
Water Tune-up should be done on the actual boat a challenge student regularly sails.
