0830 hours we set sail for Anegada, the drowned island, some 14 miles north across the open sea. Anegada is a twenty-mile long reef and has over 300-recorded shipwrecks from days of old. The island is only twenty-feet above sea level. Anegada is a wildlife sanctuary with colonies of flamingos, herons and osprey, and the endangered rock iguana, which can grow to five feet long. We will do a Bahamian Moor off the Angonda Beach Club and catch a taxi to Lobby Lolly Bay for an afternoon of snorkeling and sun bathing. |
|
Then in the late afternoon, we will return to the Anegada Beach Club for a beach lobster dinner. We will then go next door to party. You are beginning to feel like you belong here. Today's Sailing Lesson We focus on heavy weather sailing, heaving to, reefing, more man-over-board drills, what to do if the steering fails, and finally how to put down a Bahamian Moor.
